DAMONTE RANCH HIGH SCHOOL

       WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2023

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE & MOMENT OF SILENCE

TODAY IS A “B” DAY

“AND NOW FOR YOUR MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS.”

FALL BREAK IS OCTOBER 2 – 6, 2023

Make up picture day for all grades is Thursday, September 28, in the Gym Foyer.

Students, if you were involved in a car accident or have information regarding it from Last Tuesday, September 19th, please see school police.

Hey Mustangs!  Come out and support the band in their first competition on Saturday at Galena at 2 pm.

Attention Seniors:  We will be conducting Senior Class Presentations for Dual Credit English students during lunch Wednesday and Thursday this week in the college and career center.  If you are taking a dual credit English course through TMC, WNC, or UNR off campus please attend.  We will be discussing post high school opportunities, scholarships, financial aid, NCAA eligibility, and the college application process.  We will meet with the remaining senior class the week following October break during English classes.

If anyone is interested in wrestling this season, please come to the small gym TODAY at lunch.

Are you interested in trying out for the Girls Basketball Program?  There will be a mandatory meeting in the Main Gym on Thursday, September 28th at 11:40 am.  You will receive your tryout packet at the meeting, so please make sure to attend.  We hope to see you there!”

Fall Break is next week and so is Banned Books Week.  In the last couple of years there has been a huge increase in people seeking to remove books they find distasteful from libraries.  Libraries are all about intellectual freedom – your right to think for yourself.  Stop by the library and check out one of the frequently challenged and/or banned books from the display to read over break and make up your own mind.  You might be surprised what books are included.

Nevada Reading Week is coming up in March and if you are the groovy artistic type, you could win money for designing the Nevada Reading Week logo!  The theme is “Embrace the Magic of Reading” and the grand prize winner will see their design featured statewide on apparel, social media, etc.  It’s a win-win!  The Grand Prize is a $150 gift card and Honorable Mention receives a $75 gift card.  Designs must be submitted by September 29th.  See Ms. Decker in the library for all the details.

Juniors and Seniors:  Are you fluent in a language other thanEnglish? Then test for the Seal of Biliteracy on October 19th! The cost is $35 and the last day to sign up is October 13th . See Mrs. Godoy in room 254 to sign up or for more information.

That’s all for your morning Announcements.

And remember:  Educate, Impower and Inspire

Have a great day, Damonte!
